TROUT
Trout is common name for many
species of fish belonging salmen family. Some called sea trout, brook trout,
lake trout, cat-head trout etc. sea trout are dormouse that is, they ascend the
rivers from the sea to breed. Most of the species however live exclusively in
fresh water and are found in most of the lakes and streams. The food consists
of almost any soot of fresh animal matter, such as smaller fish, Constance
insect larvae.
KIND OF TROUT
Although the trout have several kinds but in GB only
brown and rainbow trout is exists.
BROWN TROUT
(SALMOFARIO TRUTTA LINUS).
Brown are native to Europe because
of their popularity as gam fish, they have been introduced around the world
including th United States, Canada’s, New Zeland, Asia, South Africa, African.
Most brown trout spend their entire lives in the fresh water streams, but some
migrates downstream to lakes. Brown trout prefer cool water below 19* c.
Brown trout have
dark spots covering the upper half of the body and fins. Most have red spots
scattered across the mid line of the body. They like pure funning water rich in
oxygen. They spurn from November to January every year subject to the water
parameters and nutritional availability. During sprig period they swim upstream
and spoun on gravel bedded shallow of fast current water of the trout zone.
RAINBOW TROUT
Rainbow trout type of trout and highly
prizes gam fish native to cold streams and lake on a both sides of the Pacific
Ocean and now found around the world. Because of popularity as gam fish rainbow
trout have been introduced to suitably cold streams and lakes all over the
world. Most rainbow trout stay in streams their entire lives, but some migrates
to lakes and other migrate to sea one to three years after hatching. Rainbow
Trout are often quite beautiful with spotted and a red splash across their
sides. Color is specially pronounced when they ascend fresh water streams to
spawn. The size of rainbow trout varies with food availability and water
temperature. It spawn latter than brown trout from December to March. They
adopted themselves easier than brown trout. They resist to certain diseases.
They developed rapidly.incubation is shorter and there is faster.
OLD HISTORY OF
TROUT CULTRE.
The Trout Culture in Gilgit Baltistan dates to
back to the time of A.F Bruce (1906-1908) a British Political Agent who for the
first time felt its necessity and approached the Fisheries Department of Jammu
and Kashmir Government Srinagar to provide aged ova. These aged ovas were
carried to Gilgit by Potters. The ovas were hatched under the supervision of
experts of that time. Until the time of C.A smith, British political agent
(1917 to 1920) great success was achieved and during the period Kargah Nallah,
Singul Nallah, Sai Nallah, Dalnati Nallah, Gulmuti Nallah, Bathrate Nallah and
Phander Lake were stocked with trout.
TROUT FISHING
Trout Fish is found abundantly in
almost all the streams and rivers of all village of Ghizer District. However
its tourist potential by offering fishing packages has not been exploited so
far. It can be a welcome and unique attraction for the tourists. Trout Fish Angling Completion is organized in Khalti Lake by Fisheries and Tourism
Department Ghizer every year. A number of Tourists and Anglers participate in this
event. Trout Fish is found in the rivers of all valleys of Gilgit Baltiatan, but its potential in Ghizer is very attracting for the tourists and visitors. The Hundarap valleys is called a Paradise for Trout Fishing all over Gilgit Baltistan.
