BABUSAR PASS, THE 2ND HIGHEST POLO GROUND ON THE EARTH.

Babusar remained the gateway between Gilgit-Baltistan and other parts of Pakistan before the construction of KKH . All traders used this pass. During the British rule up to 1886, Babusar was the summer camp of the officials and Assistant political Agent of Chilas sub-Division resides in Babusar for four months. Babusar top is located at a distance of 45 Km from KKH. Its height from sea level is about 14600 ft. There are Lush green mountains covered with thin forest in Babusar and there are 3 beautiful lakes surrounding Babusar top namely Kota Lake, Koli Lake and shoti Lake which adds the beauty of this place. This pass is a viewpoint of several beauty places of District Diamer. Northern Areas Tourism Department has constructed Tourist Facilitation Center at Babusar with limited rooms. Currently National Highway Authority (NHA) is constructing 70 ft wide highway, which will link KKH Chilas to Mansherah Via Babusar.

Babusar Polo Cup Festival is held in august of each year. Where Polo teams of Gilgit-Baltistan compete with each other and thousands of tourists enjoy this traditional festival. This Polo festival is organized by Tourism Department Gilgit-Baltistan to pressure this traditional sport and to attract tourists to the area.

HOW TO GET THERE:
The Babusar Pass located in District Diamer at a distance of 35 Kms from KKH near chilas. The Babusar pass can also be accessed through Mansehra, via Kaghan valley covering a distance of 200Kms. However, it is advisable to travel from Chilas to Babudsar which takes less time. There is also an option of a four-wheel drive vehicle to hire from Chilas. Northern Areas Transport Corporation (NATCO) operates a daily bus service from Rawalpindi to Chilas Diamer.

ACCOMMODATION:
The Government of Gilgit-Baltistan provides space in a tented village. Government Rest Houses, Tourist Facilitation Centre, and Forest Huts are available with a limited number of rooms. Some private restaurants and a number of hotels in Chilas town are also operating.
Visitors are advised to keep warm clothes, umbrellas, and raincoats during their stay at Babusar valley.
