There are many festivals/events celebrated in District Ghizer, but few Cultural Events are celebrated as Mega Events by Tourism Department in Ghizer. The aim of these Events are to attract the tourist towards the area. Following are some improtant Events celebrated every year in Ghizer District.
1. Jashn e Tukom Razi:
Jshn e Tukhom Razi is locally called
Bee Ganik, is the first event in the lives of the habitant of this District. It
is the symbol of the ending of harsh winters and beginning of spring. On the
occasion of this traditional event the people of the area clean and decorate their
houses with wheat flour. On the same day at noon wheat seeds are sowed in the
field. The activities of life begin with this festivity. Specifically local
food and traditional music are arranged for entertainment of their Guests
coming different villages. This Traditional Festival is celebrated in each
Tehsils of District Ghizer from March to April every year. The allocation
budget for this Festival is Rs. 0.150 million to 0.300 million allocated by
Tourism Department Gilgit-Baltistan. The budget allocation depends on financial
condition of the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Spring Blossom Festival:
Spring
Blossom Festival is celebrated in all over Gilgit-Baltistan
in the beginning of spring season. This Festival has become the regular event
of the Tourism Department Gilgit-Baltistan. Therefore this Event is celebrated
regularly to attract more tourists in the region. The allocation budget for this
Festival is Rs. 0.200 million to 0.300 million allocated by Tourism Department
Gilgit-Baltistan. The budget allocation depends on financial condition of the
Government of Gilgit-Baltistan.
3. Shandure Polo Festival:
This is a mega International Event celebrated every year
in the month of July. The Shandure Polo Festival is held at Shandure Polo
Ground the Highest Polo Ground of the World.
This Festival is organized by Tourism Department Gilgit-Baltistan. The
Management responsibilities are given to the Tourism Department Ghizer and
District Administration. The
allocation budget for this Festival is Rs. 4.00 million to 6.00 million
allocated by Tourism Department Gilgit-Baltistan. The budget allocation depends
on financial condition of the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan and increased
annual basis.
4. World Tourism Day:
World Tourism Day is celebrated on September 27. The
purpose of this day is to raise awareness on the role of tourism within the
international community and to demonstrate how it affects social, cultural,
political and economic values worldwide. To give an awareness to the people of
the area regarding importance of Tourism. An amount of Rs. 20000 to 40000 is
released for this purpose.
